About Madronamai
Madronamai is a small native plant nursery that has been growing and selling Garry Oaks for the past eighteen years. We are located near Mt Baker in a sheltered valley on the western slope of the Cascade Range. Nooksack River alluvium has blessed us with a rich loam that is ideal for growing trees, and for sculpting consistently firm root balls of the highest quality.

When Madronamai began, Garry oaks and other related Pacific Northwest native plants were unsung or under appreciated. There was a reluctance to try something new and unfamiliar. Education and fashion have changed all of that. Now the significant ecological value and rich heritage of Garry Oaks are widely recognized from Canada to California. A growing need for larger Garry Oaks within the landscape industry has put Madronamai in a unique position to provide them.
Root Development
One Season After Digging
We are hand digging the largest available Garry Oaks with 100% success. Our desire to continue this level of service with such large trees requires us to take the extra step of holding and monitoring each tree for a minimum of one growing season prior to its release for sale. We are confident in the vigor of our Garry Oaks and guarantee them for one year when maintained by a watering system meeting our approval.
